QAM has a biotechnology plant with the following laboratories:

• Instrumental Lab
• Molecular Biology Lab
• Microbiology Lab
• Media Preparation Room
• Washing Room
• Storage Room
• Sterilization Area
• Fermentation Area
• Separation and Purification Area
• Cold Room
• Machinery Room

This plant has been built with the best sanitary considerations, it has solar cells for heating water and producing electricity as well as for lighting, which allows for savings in energy consumption. It has temperature and humidity controls and is isolated from outside so standard temperature and humidity conditions can be maintained, necessary for optimal performance of the different measuring, controlling, and processing equipment. Likewise, it has a residual water treatment system.
Due to its characteristics, this is the only plant in the region to be placed at Biosafety level 2, making it unique and friendly to the environment.
